A Dominican detective who monitored sex offenders accused of sexual abuse of a minor

NEW YORK. – Juan Jiménez, a Dominican detective of the Special Victims Unit and who was assigned to monitor registered sex offenders, was arrested on Friday and accused of allegedly sexually abusing a minor, 12-year-old teenagers, when the victim was in his house.

Prosecutors say Jiménez, a war veteran and who joined the National Guard, before entering the New York Police Department (NYPD), grabbed the child by the buttocks, pulled her to him and tried to kiss her.

The 37-year-old officer was being investigated after the child’s mother made the complaint at the Brooklyn prosecutor’s office, being detained by officers from barracks 84.

Jiménez was arrested on charges of sexual abuse, forced contact and inappropriate behavior to harm a child under 17 years of age.

Prosecutors asked the judge to impose a bail of $ 50,000 and the NYPD immediately suspended him pending the findings of the investigation, but was released on his own responsibility.

Jimenez had hired the alleged victim to work as a babysitter in the Crown Heights neighborhood apartment building in Brooklyn where he lived, sources of the investigation.

He was charged Friday in the Brooklyn Criminal Court.

Court cops blocked press photographers and took Jimenez out of one of the court’s back doors.

Jiménez worked in the Sexual Offender Monitoring Unit at the Manhattan Criminal Court.

“The defendant grabbed the girl by the waist with his hands and tried to kiss her on the mouth and grabbed her buttocks,” explains the file.

The statement does not specify where or how Jiménez was arrested.
