Aircraft left Venezuela lands irregularly in a sugarcane area of La Altagracia

Santo Domingo. A plane from Venezuela was found injured and abandoned in a sugarcane area of ​​La Altagracia province after an irregular landing at the site, Dominican authorities reported.

It is an aircraft type PA-31 with license plate YV312 (altered), which was found in an area of ​​cane fields near the intersection of San Rafael de Yuma on the road between La Romana and Punta Cana near the batey Los Tocones. The whereabouts of the occupants is unknown.

The Ministry of Defense, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) and the Attorney General’s Office, said that radar reports indicate that the aircraft took off on Friday night from an area not determined in Venezuela and when entering the Dominican airspace was sighted at 10.25 pm, at 10.26 pm the authorities ordered the takeoff of a Supertucano, but at 10.28 pm it disappeared from the radar.

They added that the plane started a search operation that lasted until 12:40 am, but the bad weather prevailing in the area forced to return to the San Isidro Air Base. The Rapid Reaction Unit (URR) of the DNCD and the Command Unit of the Dominican Republic Navy (ARD) immediately ordered an operation in the area to locate the aircraft and its possible occupants.

They explained that at 5:50 am, when the weather improved, a helicopter from the Air Force was sent to the area and the ground units in the area were reinforced, to expand the search operation, finding the aircraft damaged and abandoned.

The information note indicates that an investigation of this case was ordered and its findings will be made available to the Public Ministry for the corresponding purposes.
