Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – An American woman died Wednesday in the Bahamas as a result of the attack of a white shark while diving.
In a statement, the Royal Bahamas Police (RBPF) indicated that the events occurred at 14.00 local time (18.00 GMT) near Rose Island, located northeast of the capital Nassau.
The tourist, adult and whose identity has not been facilitated, was rescued from the sea and transferred to a hospital in New Providence, where her death was certified.
Due to the event, the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources of the Bahamas has asked bathers for caution when entering the ocean.
The Ministry of Tourism of the Bahamas, for its part, conveyed its condolences for the fact and its sorrow for what happened while announcing the opening of an investigation into the event.
