“I have always said that when you are faithful to what you carry inside and have firm faith in God, he puts in your path the joy and the satisfactions of achievements that you can take on the path of your life. The bachatero was recognized on a day like today, by the mayor of New York, Bill Di Blasio, in an act in the Big Apple, for his contributions to music, and to the Dominican culture, becoming the first figure to receive such a high distinction without ever having resided in the city.
This event, as well as the declaration by the National Congress that declared Anthony Santos as an ambassador of Dominican popular music, served as a platform to promote the declaration of bachata as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity granted by UNESCO last December.
