Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The National Police arrested Víctor Hugo Gómez on Friday, the alleged mastermind of the attack, where Major League Baseball player David Ortiz was injured.
“National Police apprehends Victor Hugo Gómez, indicated as one of the intellectual authors of the attack where former baseball player David Ortiz was wounded,” the police published through his Twitter account.
Reports indicate that the arrest of the accused occurred at 11:00 in the morning in Santo Domingo Oeste.
Gómez Vásquez, supposed member of the Gulf cartel, would be the mastermind of the attack where Ortiz and the communicator Jhoel López were injured.
According to the authorities, the attack was directed not at David Ortiz but at Sixto David Fernández. The authorities attribute to Víctor Hugo Gómez Vásquez the highest links with the Gulf Cartel.
As reported last week, the prosecutor, Sixto David Fernández was with Ortiz and other acquaintances at a table in the Dial Bar and Lounge, on Presidente Vásquez Avenue, on the night of Sunday, June 9, when the incident occurred.
The prosecutor showed, through a video, that the attire of Fernandez, who has a mechanic’s workshop and does not present criminal history, and that of the expelotero were similar, reason why he argued that the criminals would have confused the objective.
