The Dominican consulate in New York, announced the launch of an internet portal with the objective of promoting and facilitating the process of obtaining Dominican citizenship for the children of Dominican parents born in the United States.
Consul General Carlos Castillo launched the website YoSoyDominicano.org during an event in which homage was paid to the Fathers of the Nation, Juan Pablo Duarte, Matías Ramón Mella and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, during which the prizes were awarded to the winners of the first youth contest of plastic arts “Pinta tu Patria” that the Consulate gave.
Castillo said in a communication sent that the new portal will promote and facilitate the process of obtaining Dominican citizenship, fulfilling the objective of strengthening the links of all its population resident in the consular jurisdiction with the country.
“All the children of Dominicans father or mother born abroad have the right to be documented as Dominican citizens through their parents, without having to travel to the Dominican Republic.”
The consular official explained that this facility is offered by the Consulate coordinated by the newly created Ventanilla de Nuevos Dominicanos, to facilitate the process for the Dominican community to carry out this important process and its added benefits.
He said that the YoSoyDominicano.org initiative highlights the benefits of obtaining Dominican citizenship, among which are, easier for those who become citizens to open and operate bank accounts in the Dominican nation, do not have to pay taxes. stay after leaving the Dominican Republic, and can maintain American citizenship, among others.
He specified that the portal describes exactly the requirements, costs and steps to follow for the processing of dual citizenship.
