Danilo Medinareaches the end of his mandate amid controversies and the pointing out of his family

Santo Domingo, DR. President Danilo Medina is running out of the last six days of the second term of government, amid controversy and the emergence of complaints that his relatives were benefited with millionaire contracts.

Alexis Medina, brother of the president, was favored with millionaire contracts in State institutions, including the Patrimonial Fund of Reformed Companies (Fomper), in which his sister, Carmen Magalys Medina Sánchez, is deputy director.

Through the tender LPI-BEI-02/2019 of “Supply of Goods for Telemetry” for an amount of US $ 14,183,643.58 million was favored by the Dominican Corporation of State Electric Companies, the company Transformadores Solomon Dominicana, owned by Maxy Montilla, brother of the first lady Cándida Montilla and brother-in-law of President Medina.

The Eastern Airport Corporation denounced the Minister of the Environment, Ángel Estévez, for alleged irregularities in the processing of the terms of reference, public hearings and environmental authorizations for the Bávaro International Airport project.

The complaint was deposited with the Special Prosecutor for the Defense of the Environment and Natural Resources and it contains an account of the alleged non-observance of local legislation and the requests for public information made.

Last Friday, President Medina inaugurated the termination of the Santo Domingo Este buses against the hair of social sectors, environmentalists, Mayor Manuel Jiménez and the elected senator, Antonio Taveras Guzmán.

Medina had to inaugurate the work amid protests.

In recent weeks, the president has canceled dozens of aides and advisers in public institutions.
