SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic. Six children infected with dengue were admitted to the Robert Read Cabral Hospital on Wednesday, from different parts of the country.
According to the deputy director of the center, the figure is considerable, so the population should begin to take preventive measures, since according to the doctor, in the coming months cases could increase.
Clemente Terrero, urged the population to go to a health center in case of fever or other symptoms associated with dengue.
According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Ministry of Public Health in the last four weeks (EW 02 to EW 05) of 2019, 272 probable cases of dengue were reported, more than 3/4 of the cases were reported in children under 15 years of age. 25% (68) were investigated by laboratory, of which 48 (71%) resulted IGM + for dengue. During this period, the highest frequency of cases occurs in residents of the Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Santo Domingo Norte and Barahona municipalities.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Public Health, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, said that although malaria shows an incidence of lethality is controlled, the information offered after being questioned by 30 new cases presented by the epidemiological bulletin of that entity of the last four weeks.
