Queens, New York. – A Dominican lost his life after being stabbed in the stomach by a stranger when he went home from work on Friday night.

José De la Cruz, 54, lost his life on Baisley Boulevard, near 134th Avenue in the Jamaica neighborhood, after 11 p.m., in front of the Garden Inn & Suites hotel.

According to the police report, the hotel functions as a home for the homeless.

So far the reason for the altercation and

the identity of the author of the homicide is unknown.

Milton de la Cruz, cousin of the deceased, described him as a working and family man and arrived in the United States 25 years ago. “I never had problems with anyone,” he said.

“He always worked and sent money to his wife and two daughters in Santo Domingo,” Milton explained.

The victim was taken to the Jamaica Medical Center in Queens, where he was pronounced dead.
