Espaillat rejects criticism of the dedication of the Dominican parade to the LGTBQ community and asks for respect for values

NEW YORK. The Dominican congressman Adriano Espaillat, rejected Thursday the consistent criticisms of community groups, media and social networks, to the decision of the director of the Dominican parade this Sunday, August 11 in Manhattan, which dedicates it to the LGTBQ community, and asked to respect the values and contributions of those who decided to lean towards their sexual preferences.

He clarified that the dedication is not only for LGTBQs, but also that the parade included 50 or more Dominicans and Dominicans, who stand out in different areas.

“That is not the case, the list includes 3 or 4 members of the LGTBQ community, which are also part of the Dominican diaspora,” added the congressman.

“I don’t understand how it is that they just focus on those three or four, ignoring the other 49,” Espaillat claimed.

He said that among the others included, is Charityn Goyco, chosen International Godmother and one of the emblems most appreciated by Dominicans in all parts of the world.

He explained that yesterday Thursday morning, he spoke with the artist about the choice and various topics.

“There are professionals and activists in different areas in the group of more than 50 Dominicans who are dedicated to the parade, including that sector of our community, which is a reality and is present. I don’t see anything wrong with that, ”said the congressman.

He said that representatives of the LGTBQ community deserve that recognition because they are an active part of the Dominican diaspora.

“We will also highlight Fefita La Grande at the Sunday breakfast that we dedicate to the parade every year,” added Espaillat.
