Leonel Fernández: “I am so democratic that I go to bed with the opposition every day”

SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.-Former President Leonel Fernández said today that he respects the decision of his wife, Vice President Margrita Cedeño, to remain in the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD).

“I am so democratic, so open that I go to bed with the opposition every night,” said the former president, quoting Belisario Betancur when answering a question from the interviewers about how his relationship with his wife has been after leaving the PLD.

When interviewed in the Matinal program of the Telemicro Group, the president and presidential candidate of the People’s Force expressed: “I respect the decision that everyone makes. She wanted to be in the PLD. That is your right. ”

“Having made the decision you make has many implications. It even has an emotional effect. In the PLD I was 46 years, a lifetime. I did not want to leave. I was compelled by the circumstances, ”said Fernández.

Leonel Fernández left the ranks of the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), the organization of which he was president, after reporting that he had been the victim of fraud in the internal primaries held on October 6 of last year.
