Luisa María Báez another one to the list of femicides in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, DR. – Luisa María Báez Castillo, 28, was added last night to the list of women killed by their partners in the last week. With her there are five women who have fallen at the hands of their husbands.

The incident occurred on Calle 2, in the Palmarito sector, in La Vega. Báez Castillo died after receiving several stab wounds made by Jan Carlos Genao de Jesús, who is admitted to a medical center after being injured during the incident.

The couple had two children. The incident would have occurred after an argument between the two, according to neighbors of the couple.

It was reported that the wounds that Genao de Jesus presents were made by the victim in self-defense. The fact is investigated by the authorities.

The death of Báez Castillo at the hands of his partner, adds to those of Leónidas José Mueses (Yadira), who was killed Friday night by his ex-partner Salvador Tapia, 63, in Los Alcarrizos; to that of Fátima Guzmán, in La Guáyiga, who was surprised while sleeping by her partner Humberto Bussi who undertook her with shots against her.

On Monday morning Gladis Elizabeth Alvarado was killed in Sabana Perdida who was attacked by her partner, Manuelcito Montero Ogando, 53, who was inflicted seven stabs after having left her for dead.

Also that of Juana Domínguez Sala, beaten to death by Johan Manuel Ramírez in San Pedro de Macorís. In this case the aggressor had tried to kill her two years ago, but he was released thanks to a confusing agreement with the Public Ministry of the province.
