Mike Pompeo: EEUU hopes to strengthen cooperation with Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, DR. – The Secretary of the United States Department of State, Mike Pompeo, said on Wednesday that he hopes to visit the Dominican Republic next Sunday, August 16, and congratulate the newly elected President Luis Abinader.
He stressed that the United States values the Caribbean island and that it hopes to strengthen cooperation between the two countries “to support a safer and more prosperous region.”
The US President, Donald Trump, announced earlier the appointment of the delegation that will attend Abinader’s inauguration, which will be headed by Pompeo, and will be accompanied by the US ambassador to the country, Robin S. Bernstein, in addition by Michael G. Kozak, Acting Assistant Secretary, Office of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Department of State.
