Santo Domingo, DR. – The Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, assured that his visit to Santo Domingo “was unforgettable.”
He stressed that cooperation between the North American country and the DR is essential for the security and prosperity of the Caribbean and the hemisphere.
“We strongly support the Dominican Republic as an ally to achieve our shared goals in the region,” he said on his Twitter account.
Pompeo was in the country to make an appearance at the inauguration ceremony of the Dominican President, Luis Abinader, with whom he later held a meeting.
The United States and the DR will seek to strengthen their ties and collaboration in the areas of regional security and economic growth, and will join forces to promote the transition to democracy in Venezuela.
