Santo Domingo. Officials of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) supported by the Department of International Cooperation of France and coordinated by the Public Ministry, detained in Puerto Plata, a French national accused of money laundering, association of criminals , usurpation and other crimes.
Sebastien Fabrice Derriot, 48, was arrested in an operation carried out on Almendra Street in the Residencial Procab of the Municipal District of Cabarete, Puerto Plata province.
His detention is due to the fact that the Dominican Supreme Court of Justice issued an arrest warrant in response to a request that requires him to be tried before the High Court of Paris, French Republic.
Fabrice Derriot is being requested in extradition to answer for the charges of organized band fraud, aggravated money laundering, identity theft and association of criminals, according to the indictment.
“The foreigner was wanted in the country for several months and after an intelligence work by DNCD officers and members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office it was possible to locate and then arrest the fugitive from the French justice,” the note states.
The detainee will be extradited in the next few days, according to the provisions of law 285-04, that foreigners with criminal records will not be admitted into Dominican territory.
The capture of French is the result of coordination and cooperation with other countries in the persecution and fight against transnational crime.
