LA ROMANA. – A man who was accused by the Public Ministry of this jurisdiction of having caused the death of a private guard of Haitian nationality and of injuring another person while perpetrating an assault on a shopping center in this city, was sentenced to death. maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.
The Collegiate Court of the Criminal Court of First Instance of La Romana after receiving the motion of the Public Ministry issued the conviction against Lisandro Perozo Payano, who was found guilty of the crimes of murder and robbery with violence.
Perozo Payano was accused of murdering Usmel Lauo and of causing injuries to Ramón Rodríguez Cedeño Aldaño when in October of 2016 at night, on board a pasola motorcycle, he was presented with a pistol to commit an assault in a shopping center from this town, where he fired several shots that hit the two victims.
The accused, who must serve the sentence in the Cucama Correction and Rehabilitation Center of this town by order of the court, committed the act in the company of another person who is fugitive.
The file states that after perpetrating the criminal action, Perozo Payano left the place and was later arrested by a judicial order executed by the Public Ministry and the National Police on March 22, 2017.
The indictment presented by the La Romana Prosecutor’s Office, headed by magistrate Reina Yaniris Rodríguez Cedeño and represented by the prosecutor of this demarcation, Daniel Acevedo Antigua, was substantiated by evidence that demonstrated that the convicted person violated articles 265, 266, 296 , 304, 379, 382 and 309 of the Dominican Penal Code, which typify and sanction theft and aggravated homicide.
The Public Ministry stressed that it remains firm in the fight against crime and said that they are prepared to seek exemplary sanctions for such regrettable acts as this, which caused great commotion and pain to all the residents in the area where the crime was perpetrated.
