Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), together with members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and supported by intelligence agencies, seized 444 packets of cocaine early Sunday, as well as an arsenal of high-caliber weapons in the province of El Seibo.
According to the spokesman of the institution, Carlos Devers, after several simultaneous operations and raids carried out in the municipality of Miches, the drug was found in María Trinidad Sánchez Street without a number under a barn in a warehouse, where other six large portions of the substance.
The operation also seized six rifles, an AK -47 and five M-16s, two Glock pistols, eleven chargers, more than 400 ammunitions of different calibers, accoutrements, a vacuum packing machine, among other evidences.
In another interdiction, the authorities occupied Padre A. Morel Street, in the Santa Cruz sector, five vehicles, two buggies, four motorcycles and two jet sky, among other properties.
Devers reported that because of the fact there are two people arrested of Dominican nationality, whose names he did not offer and he assured that they activate the persecution of other members of this international drug trafficking network to put them at the disposal of justice.
“The authorities have redoubled efforts throughout the national territory to continue confronting drug trafficking and organized crime with determination,” he said.
According to the official with this operation, the authorities have dealt a severe blow to the networks that try to use the Dominican territory for their illicit activities.
He also reported that the 444 packages of the substance were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
It is presumed that the amount of drug confiscated by the Dominican authorities is valued at approximately RD $ 250 million.
Sixty days ago he seized 120 packets of cocaine
Just six days ago, the DNCD seized 120 presumably cocaine packages in Santo Domingo Este.
