They summon protest in front of terminal will inaugurate the president Medina in SDE

Santo Domingo, DR.

The former candidate for deputy Claudio Caamano Vélez called for a demonstration for this Friday at 10:00 in the morning, in front of the Santo Domingo Este bus terminal, in rejection of the inauguration of the infrastructure that President Danilo Medina will do the morning from today.

«Tomorrow, Friday 7, at 10:00 AM, see you where they intend to open the illegal bus terminal. We are going to show Danilo that there are Dominicans with dignity, who respect each other and demand respect, ”Caamano Vélez published on his social networks.

It is recalled that several judgments of the High Courts ordered the construction of that terminal to be stopped, for failing to present an environmental impact study, but the work for its continuation continued its course and this Friday President Medina will formally inaugurate it.

The mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Manuel Jiménez, was another who expressed his complaint about the inauguration that the head of state will make today.

“AND ME? I hear rumors that the president is going to inaugurate the alleged bus stop, but perhaps he forgot that I am the mayor of SDE and that by protocol I should be invited with a few words. I need to say that this construction is illegal and that it will not be a stop, “said the municipal mayor.

Jiménez also announced that he will join the protest that residents of the aforementioned municipality will carry out to show their rejection of the inauguration of the work, which he said will be converted into a cultural palace.

Ah! IS TODAY! I already learned that the president will open the “terminal” of the Parque del Este tomorrow. We will be there with banners telling him that what he is inaugurating is not a TERMINAL and that EL Parque del Este is not negotiated. Where there is fight there is victory! See you at 10.!”.

Another who is not indifferent to the protest is the senator-elect for the Santo Domingo province, Antonio Taveras Guzmán, who described the work as “illegal and illegitimate”, in addition to indicating that President Medina attacks the democratic order and the citizen’s will by open that stop.

“THE BUS STOP IS ILLEGAL AND ILLEGITIMATE The bus stop that President @DaniloMedina intends to inaugurate before leaving the Palace is illegal, illegitimate and an affront to the democratic order and the will of the citizenry,” said the elected legislator.

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications, the entity that built the work, has stated on several occasions that it has acted in accordance with the current legal system, and in this regard stated that it complied with the order of the ruling of the Superior Administrative Court of October 2018 , and that issued by the Constitutional Court in December 2019, in relation to the construction work of the Interurban Terminal of Autobuses del Este.

“There is no doubt that the MOPC has complied with the provisions of judgment TSA-030-04-2018-SSEN-00348, issued by the Third Chamber of the Superior Administrative Court (TSA) on October 1, 2018 and by judgment TC / 0553/19, issued by the Constitutional Court on December 10, 2019, in full adherence to the current legal order, “the Ministry highlighted through a document signed by Minister Ramón Pepín.

He said that the construction of the Interurban Terminal of Autobuses del Este is one of the five terminals contemplated in the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility 2017-2022 (PEMUS), which will benefit millions of Dominicans.

The MOPC noted that in its ruling the TSA only ordered the provisional suspension of the work until the requirements to present the work’s land use permit, issued by the Municipal Council of the Santo Domingo Este City Council, were met.

Also, the environmental authorization issued by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, “said court ordering the resumption of work if the aforementioned permits were obtained.”
