US couple reveal the causes of dead, found at the hotel in SPM

The Regional Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) revealed on Sunday that the couple of Americans who were found dead at a hotel in San Pedro de Macoris, both died of respiratory failure.

The institution noted that the result of the autopsy revealed that Edward Nathael Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Ann Day, 49, have respiratory failure and pulmonary edema, so that the toxicological and histopathological study is awaited.

Several bottles of medications used to treat high blood pressure were found inside the couple’s room, police said in a press release.

Edward and Cynthia had stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Hotel, at Playa Nueva Romana, in San Pedro de Macorís, since May 25 and had been scheduled to leave on Thursday, May 30, but were found dead on May 31 in the room.
